MATCH REPORT
A third meeting of the season for these two teams, a Home win each in the league and now a game that had to have a winner in the Birmingham Junior Cup. A well contested match with chances at both ends. Rugby's 16 year old keeper Xander Grieves making some very good saves, the best being from a Bassit Mandey shot, and earning some praise from the much more experienced stopper Cameron Belford in his post match interview! Coleshill were pushing for a goal but it was the visitors who broke the deadlock on 79 minutes when from a long free kick floated into the danger area, Drew Lowe managed to get the final touch, squeezing the ball home just inside Belford's right hand post. Coleshill hit back just four minutes later as a fine run and cross from Ben Usher-Shipway was tapped home from inside the six yard box by Marvellous Onabirekhanlen who had come on as a substitute for Alex McSkeane shortly after Rugby had taken the lead. Usher-Shipway almost got the winner but Grieves made another fine save diving full length to palm away his goalbound effort. Red Simmons, making his Coleshill debut, was denied by another fine Grieves save with time running out. With the score level on 90 minutes the game went to penalties.
For Rugby Bivens and Teddy Rowe both scored, Ben Usher Shipway and Theo Rowe doing the same. Fabian Stolowski hit the post and Marvellous Onabirekhanlen put Coleshill 3-2 up. Tremaine Charles was next to step up for Rugby but Cameron Belford made a great save diving to his right hand side. Bassit Mandey was next knowing that if he scored it was game over. The keeper dived the right way but Mandey's shot was to accurate and found the back of the net. Coleshill Town 4-2 Rugby Town.
