MATCH REPORT
Coleshill began their defence of the Walsall Senior Cup with a visit to a very wet Wolverhampton Casuals, a game that was in doubt until the referee finally turned up, did a pitch inspection and decided to go ahead. Yes it was wet, and yes the white shirts of the visitors got very dirty, but the pitch held up extemeley well in an entertaining game that Coleshill won, the score line looking dominant, but the home side put up a fight and were well in the game until the last 15 minutes. Coleshill took the opportunity to change the team a bit, giving some senior players a rest and allowing squad players to show what they had. Young keeper Jack Higgs played his first competetive game for the Colemen and he looked very comfortable. Tristan Dunkley impressed with his work rate and was rewarded with two goals, Harry Rix came on as a late sub but got the fourth goal that finally sunk the home team. Coleshill played some nice, neat, keep ball, football with the experienced Gio Dainty running the back four with Dunkley getting the only goal of the first half on 18 minutes. On the hour ex Coleshill player Jon Letford beat keeper Higgs to a through ball and felled in the box, Kourouyianni scoring from the spot via the post. It looked like the home side could cause an upset but Dunkley got his deserved second on 65 minutes and from then on Coleshill showed their superiority with Daniel Gyasi scoring on 76 minutes with the best goal of the game, and Harry Rix popped up on 79 minutes with the killer goal. A really good workout for Coleshill against a Casuals side that never gave up. Coleshill will be at Home in the next round against either Litchfield City or Stafford Rangers, a date yet to be arranged, but they are back in action this Saturday away to league leaders Carlton Town.
