MATCH REPORT
Coleshill Town Topple League Leaders Belper in Dominant 2–0 Victory
By Ian Pugh

Coleshill Town produced a commanding performance to dispatch top-of-the-table Belper Town 2–0 at Pack Meadow, a result that not only lifts The Colemen out of the bottom four but sends a clear message to the rest of the division.

From the first whistle, Coleshill looked the more composed and threatening side. Their attacking intent was evident early on, carving out three or four clear chances in the opening stages. Yet Belper’s goalkeeper stood firm, pulling off a string of remarkable saves to keep the scores level.

The breakthrough moment came in the 17th minute when McSkeane danced around the keeper and unleashed a fierce strike. A covering defender blocked the shot with his arm, earning a straight red card and handing Coleshill a golden opportunity from the spot. Theo Rowe stepped up to take the penalty but was denied by the keeper—not once, but twice—as the rebound fell back to him and was saved again. Ben Usher-Shipway then pounced on the second rebound, only to see his effort thwarted by a third save in quick succession. Despite the numerical advantage and relentless pressure, Coleshill couldn’t find the net in the first half. Belper offered little in response, failing to register a single shot on target, but the half ended goalless—a scoreline that flattered the visitors.

The second half began with immediate drama. Just two minutes in, a deep Coleshill corner caused panic in the Belper box and was inadvertently headed into the net by a Belper defender, finally giving Coleshill the lead their dominance deserved.

Belper attempted to rally, pushing more bodies forward, but their attacks lacked precision and continued to fall short of troubling the Coleshill keeper. On 60 minutes, a well-worked free kick down the wing led to another pinpoint cross, this time finding Theo Rowe on the edge of the box. Rowe made no mistake, curling his shot just beyond the keeper’s reach to make it 2–0, his third goal in as many games.
The final stages saw Belper throw everything forward, but Coleshill’s backline remained resolute. The Colemen’s defensive discipline and midfield control ensured Belper’s frustration mounted, culminating in their second consecutive defeat.

Next up for Coleshill is a Monday night clash against bottom-of-the-league Bedworth. With momentum building and confidence high, another win could see The Colemen climb further up the table. Supporters are urged to turn out in force at 7:45pm to back the team as they look to continue this rich vein of form.

Up the Colemen!
