NON LEAGUE PAPER WROTE
Bourne Town’s first game back at Step 4 will go down as a loss to Coleshill Town, but that probably wasn’t a fair reflection on the game as a whole. The only goal of the game came from a long throw in the 35th minute which was poked home. Bourne started the strongest and tested the keeper twice through Zac Allen and Tom Siddons. Over the course of the game they will wonder how shots from Connor Furey and a late header from Connor Peters didn’t hit the back of the net. Bourne had a huge penalty shout turned down after Allen drove through three players in the box. Coleshill would get their own penalty but this was well saved by Will Lakin.

MATCH REPORT
BROOKE’S VOLLEY SEALS OPENING DAY WIN FOR COLESHILL TOWN AT BOURNE FC
By Ian Pugh

Coleshill Town kicked off their 2025/26 league campaign in gritty style with a hard-fought 1–0 away win over newly promoted Bourne FC. In a game that demanded resilience, composure, and moments of quality, it was Dan Brooke’s clinical finish that proved decisive.

Match-Winning Moment
The breakthrough came in the first half from a well-worked set piece. Ben Usher-Shipway launched a trademark long throw into the box, met by the towering leap of Taylor Carter-Byrne whose flicked header found Dan Brookes. With precision and power, Brookes volleyed home with his left foot, giving the Colemen a deserved lead.

Missed Opportunity to Double the Lead
Coleshill had the chance to put the game beyond reach in the second half when they were awarded a penalty. However, the Bourne keeper produced a superb save to deny the visitors a second goal, keeping the hosts in the contest and setting up a tense finish.

Defensive Steel and Standout Performances
As Bourne pushed forward, launching long balls and piling pressure, Coleshill’s defence stood firm. Goalkeeper Cameron Belford was voted Man of the Match by the travelling supporters for his commanding presence and crucial saves. Defender Tyreace Brown also earned plaudits for his composed and alert performance, snuffing out several dangerous moments.

Manager’s Reaction
Manager Harry Harris was full of praise for his side after the final whistle:
“Delighted with today’s result. We played some excellent football and defended very well when we needed to second half when they lumped everything on us. We missed a penalty and had some good chances to make it more comfortable but I can’t complain because we couldn’t ask for a tougher start traveling 2 hours on the coach to a newly promoted team so I’m over the moon, the lads were brilliant. We now look forward to Monday night which will be another tough test against a very experienced team who are looking to challenge for the title but we’re confident and looking forward to it. I would like to thank all the supporters who came in their numbers today, they were brilliant. Up the Colemen.”
