CASTLE BROMWICH NEWS WROTE
Honours Hopes Fade

Coleshill’s offside trap worked against them, for both Bridgnorth’s goals came from long clearances out of defence over Town’s rearguard, leaving Caulcott a clear run at goal. Following their good mid-week win against Bournville, Coleshill were in fine fettle and expected to carry off both points. But their hopes were dashed in the sixth minute, when Caulcott ran on to a long ball leaving defenders appealing for offside before steering home past the helpless Garnell. Against the slope, Coleshill had difficulty finding their men. Midfield work was good but the finishing touches were missing. Timmy Clarke was particularly impressive and combined well with Johnny Allen. After 25 minutes Coleshill almost drew level when keeper Turner handled outside the area. Allen floated a neat free kick into the box, but Scott Coleman was inches wide. Then came the stunning blow. Bridgnorth netted their second with a repeat of the first goal. A long clearance left Caulcott clear and again Town’s appeals for offside were ignored. Coleshill set to with urgency and an Allen cross-shot had no takers. Numerous corners were scrambled away by a desperate home defence and Dunn and Allen both hit the woodwork. The goal eluded Coleshill until the 86th minute, when Clarke whipped in a shot to notch his first goal for his new club.
