SUNDAY MERCURY WROTE
Coleshill Turn On Late Goals Rush

Against the odds Evesham fought out a desperate battle against title contenders Coleshill but a three goals in five minutes spell by the visitors midway through the second half finally put pay to their chances. Reduced to ten men when full back Cowley was sent off after only six minutes, Evesham's reorganised line up grabbed the lead two minutes before the break despite Coleshill having the extra man. Paul Hare crossed to the far post where Moverley headed past Civil in the Coleshill goal. Five minutes into the second half a splendid solo effort by Steve Reed put Evesham further ahead. Then, in the 64th minute a slip by keeper Berry enabled Mathews to reduce the Coleshill deficit from a narrow angle. Then came two further goals within a minute from Jenkins and Jordan to put Coleshill into the lead for the first time in the match. Evesham suffered yet another setback 14 minutes from time when Barrett was forced to leave the field with a broken nose before Polack eventually wrapped up the points with a fourth goal for Coleshill in the 89th minute.
