COLESHILL CHRONICLE WROTE
Coleshill Power

After two nervous escapes in the opening minutes, one with Mike Warren breaking through on to a bad back pass, Coleshill Town pulled themselves together and stunned title chasing Sutton with a powerful display on Tuesday night. The free moving home side started with a goal in the 9th minute, about which there was an element of luck. A knock on by John Allcock from the left found McDonald in the centre. Sutton keeper Williams got to it first but dropped it, McDonald collected it, rounded Williams and forced the ball home. It was McDonald who set up the second goal, worrying the defence on the right for midfield man Jim Hall to nip in and add the second after 13 minutes. Coleshill dominated most of the first half with their fluid style. Pash and Howkins tried hard to revive Sutton in the latter part of the half but Warren looked their most dangerous player. Capper made a good save from a fine centre from Smith with Warren running in. Coleshill struck again early in the second half. Allcock broke through and beat the unhappy Williams, stabbing the ball, with a defender desperately trying to reach it for the third on 49 minutes. A ding-dong battle ensued with Sutton coming back more into the game. They lost their chance to pull one back, however, when Howkins was alledged to have been tripped inside the area in the 88th minute, Pash took the penalty but a great save by Capper denied Sutton their consolation. Allcock has now scored six goals of the 30 set as a target for him for the season, and McDonald received a deserved ovation from the large crowd when he was pulled off in the 80th minute. Sutton's Dawes was booked for a blatent trip on Hall when the Coleshill player looked set for yet another dangerous break.
