SOLIHULL NEWS WROTE
Unbeaten Record Shattered By Town

This was a surprising result, as Coleshill have not lost at Home for close on two seasons, but nevertheless a well deserved win for the Town who gave their most impressive display this season. Solihull elected to kick up the slope for the first half and it was it was soon apparent that this was going to be a match where no quarter was asked or given as Coleshill quickly showed that they were anxious to wipe out the memory of the previuos weeks defeat at Malvern. Their long ball tactics and the quick tackling of the front runners put the Solihull defence under pressure in the opening stages. However this early burst was easily held by the visitors and with Wall and Benton quickly slipping into form in the midfield they were soon creating the best chances, the first of these falling to Tom Brown. Westwood picked up a through ball from Benton. It was played back to the waiting Brown but his final shot was weak and easily saved by Garnell. Soon after this Lewis had a wonderfull oportunity to open the score but again he shot weakly when well placed. The same player was given the chance to open the score when he headed home a Benton cross to round off a great move. This set-back shook the home side and for a while they hammered away at the Solihull defence but rarely looked like scoring. The second half opened quietly for a while with neither side really dominating the play when suddenly after 10 minutes, Tom Brown siezed on the ball just inside his opponents half and raced 30 yards passed a confused home defence, before unleashing a tremendous cross-shot which whipped into the net before the surprised Garnell had time to cover it. This second reversal shook Coleshill and for a while the game deteriorated as their robust game became a little over enthusiastic at times, probably one or two players being lucky to escape a caution. With half an hour of the game left Coleshill reduced the lead through Sanders who controlled a cross from the left before shooting past Hewitt into the roof of the net. This goal really set the game alight and for a while Coleshill gained the upper hand but the Solihull defence refused to be rattled, cleverly playing their way out of trouble. As the half progressed and Coleshill failed to equalise it was obvious that they were becoming more deperate and this allowed the visitors the opportunity to worry their defence. The quick breaks of Lewis and Brown causing them problems. It was these two players who were instrumental in finally settling the issue when, after Lewis had broken away down the right, his low accurate cross found the waiting Brown who beat a lone defender before shooting into the corner of the net. The final ten minutes saw Coleshill still trying all they knew to save the game but Solihull were not in any mood to now allow this well earned win to slip.Dor Solihull, Westwood, on his return to the side, had a wonderful game and thoroughly deserves his inclusion in this Saturday's side to play Malvern Town Reserves at home.
