CASTLE BROMWICH NEWS WROTE
COLESHILL HIT BACK TO SINK AVONSIDERS

Coleshill Town fought their way through to the third round of the Midland Combination Challenge Cup, visiting and beating Stratford Town. When Harry Burrows was adjudged to have handled the ball and Stratford took the lead from the penalty spot in the 15th minute things looked to be going against Coleshill. Fine scoring efforts, especially by the Montague brothers Paul and Nigel were foiled by the home keeper and Stratford looked composed in defence. But manager David Kite decided on an all out attacking policy in the second half. Substitute Snowy Upton was brought on to make a four man front line in place of defender Nigel Montague and the "gamble" paid handsome dividends. Stan Komoroski playing his first game in midfield since returning from suspension emerged as the "man of the match" despite finding himself booked for one particular hard tackle. His all out endeavours gave Coleshill the edge and Danny Conway levelled matters, converting a cross from Peter Dawkins. Coleshill were also well served by Tom Hardie and Martin McGreevy as they searched for the winner, which came 15 minutes from the end when Upton paved an opening for Paul Montague to slam the ball home. Behind the scenes manager David Kite is still having problems because of not having a second team. "To keep a squad of players, who all want regular games, is extremely difficult'" he said. Recentry Coleshill loaned David Colvin to Hinckley Athletic and now the West Midland League club want to sign the player. "I am hoping that I can persuade David to stay at Coleshill." added Mr Kite, "But other players who are not getting a game each week are also a little unsettled." This Saturday Coleshill visit Midland Combination First Division leaders Boldmere St Michaels and the Coleshill squad will be: Goulden, Wright, McGreevey, Sarson, Montague N, Burrows, Hartry, Allen, Hardie, Komoroski, Colvin, Casey, Upton, Dawkins, Montague P, Conway, Voicey.
