CASTLE BROMWICH NEWS WROTE
DAWKINS NETS TOWN WINNER

This fiercely fought Midland Combination First Division clash provided plenty of action and thrills for the few, brave, wind swept supporters at Pack Meadow. Evesham provided the bulk of the attacking play in a goalless first half and could have enjoyed a two goal interval lead, but for some superb keeping by Colin Wright plus some good all round defensive play. Coleshill’s spasmodic attacks were centred around Peter Dawkins and Paul Montague but never seriously troubled Brooks in the Evesham goal. What was said in the dressing room at half time seemed to have the desired effect, Coleshill started the second half on the attack and within two minutes they took the lead. A good run and cross from Johnny Allen saw Dawkins head the ball powerfully home. Further pressure from the home side might have brought another goal, Paul Montague going close on two occasions. Evesham got themselves back in the game by using an offside ploy, a tactic that Coleshill never got to grips with. Pushing more men forward Evesham strove hard for the equaliser, but their efforts were thwarted by the “iron men” of Coleshill’s defence, in which Burrows and McGreevy were outstanding, McGreevy in particular had a fine game, being switched from right to left back in an effort to strengthen the left flank and it proved successful. Success at the end of the day is all about taken and missed chances. Evesham only had themselves to blame for not capitalising on theirs. They frequently had five or six men in and around the Coleshill penalty area as opposed to Paul Montague and Peter Dawkins who ploughed lone furrows up front for Coleshill. Support for these two very able players must be found if Coleshill are to become a Midland Combination force. Coleshill’s manager David Kite was obviously pleased with the result and he praised the performances of Wright, McGreevy, Dawkins, Allen and Paul Montague. To add more support Mr Kite this week signed 19 year old Felicattio Nardiallo the brother of Coventry City’s Don. He joins Coleshill from Hinckley and his former clubs were Nuneaton Borough and AP Leamington. Last Saturday Nardiallo played for British Colleges but he will be in Coleshill’s line up to face Racing Club Warwick this Saturday. COLESHILL will be seeking revenge following two previous defeats by Racing this season. The Coleshill team will be selected from: Wright, McGreevy, Burrows, Montague N, Hartry, Allen, Hardie, Komoroski, Casey, Dawkins, Upton, Montague P, Conway, Nardiallo, Moseley.
