CASTLE BROMWICH NEWS WROTE
LATE GOAL PUTS TOWN OUT OF CUP

Coleshill suffered their first defeat in six games when they were knocked out of the Birmingham Senior Cup 2-1 by visitors Racing Club Warwick on Saturday. Town manager David Kite was "very disappointed" and he said "Considering we had nearly all the attacking play it was tragic to see defensive errors cost us the game." Coleshill got away to a splendid start when a cross from Johnny Allen found David Colvin, who slotted in a 20th minute goal. With Allen and Tom Hardie working well in the midfield there appeared little danger for Coleshill, but several other scoring chances were wasted. Racing reorganised at the start of the second half, introducing both their substitutes and danger man Slade began to torment Coleshill's rearguard. Young Colin Sarson found Slade a skilful opponent and goalkeeper Alan Goulden looked surprisingly shaky. It was from a cross by Slade that Racing drew level when Goulden failed to hold the ball and in a desperate bid to save only managed to punch the ball into his own net. This sudden success inspired Racing and two minutes from time they snatched the winner scoring from an indirect free kick, exploiting another defensive blunder. This Saturday Coleshill visit Bridgnorth Town in a Midland Combination First Division game.

Only the third time Coleshill have competed in the Birmingham Senior Cup and yet to Win!
